Ethan is the latest member to join the ECS Tech Team. He has a broad range of Laserfiche knowledge and experience, having previously worked as a Laserfiche applications developer. He has a learner’s mindset and focuses his efforts to providing advanced technology solutions and always willing to go above and beyond. His Laserfiche knowledge includes the full product suite while specializing in cutting-edge solutions to automate processes and integrations. We’re excited to have Ethan join ECS as a Solution Engineer to help better serve ECS customers.

City of Palm Desert
The City of Palm Desert is located in the Coachella Valley about 14 miles east of Palm Springs. With a population of nearly 49,000 residents, Palm Desert is not only a major center of growth in the Coachella Valley, but is also a popular retreat for “snowbirds” who come from colder climates each winter.

The City created a tag line of, “TAME the paper tiger!” TAME stands for Transparency, Accountability, Modernization, and Efficiency. This represents the City’s “Digital First Campaign” to increase automation, digitize content, and utilize Workflows to better streamline existing processes.

ECS Monthly Tips & Tricks

Operational Reports in Laserfiche Forms
Laserfiche Forms provides a wide variety of information about processes and automatically generated and customizable reports. Let’s take a look at the metrics shown in Operational Reports.

  • To view an Operational Report in Laserfiche Forms, click Reports in the navigation bar, click Operational Reports, and select the process you’re interested in.
  • The Operational Report shows the status of the process and its tasks.
  • Use the drop-down menus at the top of the page to specify the information you want the report to show. (For example, you can see all the tasks that are currently running and were started in the last 30 days). Then, click Apply.
  • In the Overview area, you can see if tasks are on time, due soon, or overdue.
  • In the Duration area, you can see how long it generally takes to complete each type of task. You can also see which tasks are likely to be overdue, and how likely it is they will be overdue based on task history.
  • In the Distribution area, you can which Users and Teams are assigned tasks. This lets you see at a glance who has the largest workload, and who has overdue tasks. You can also see a list of tasks, their stages, and their statuses in table format.
  • Click any blue text to see a list of these specific instances of the processes or tasks being referenced.

Operational Reports make it easy to keep an eye on your processes, letting you quickly identify bottlenecks, overdue tasks, and high achievers.

Workflow 11 Update 1 Coming Soon!

Targeted for September as an expansion to hybrid-enabled capabilities, Laserfiche is excited to begin the rollout of capture profiles and Smart Invoice Capture to early adopters with the release of Workflow 11 Update 1.
What are capture profiles? Capture profiles are a cloud-based automation tool applied as part of workflows to extract data from individual document types in order to update metadata, name folders, route files, and more.
What is Smart Invoice Capture? Smart Invoice Capture is a type of pre-built capture profile powered by machine learning to simply solution design and increase ROI by automatically extracting key data from any invoice format.
What does hybrid mean? Hybrid refers to the underlying technical construct that enables self-hosted customers to take advantage of certain cloud-hosted services and benefits without having to move entirely to the cloud. Direct Share is an example of a Laserfiche hybrid-enabled feature, already available to self-hosted customers via Laserfiche 11. Learn more.
How to become an early adopter? If you are interested today in adopting these new hybrid-enabled capabilities, please contact your territory manager. Requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
When is general availability targeted for? Look out for a release date later this year in Q4. Pricing and packaging information will also be delivered in the coming months.

Laserfiche Cloud August Updates

The August release for Laserfiche Cloud includes bug fixes, performance enhancements as well as the following new features:
File sets now supported in the new form layout designer. File sets lets you collect a specific set of related files to ease content capture, approvals and compliance. This streamlines processes like new account opening where a specific set of files needs to be uploaded, reviewed or signed by an applicant. Learn more about file sets.
New digital reopening solution templates available. Support safe reopening efforts and accelerate solution deployment by taking advantage of five new pre-built solution templates, which include the daily employee symptom report, work from home experience survey, inventory tracking and equipment request, return to work questionnaire and Covid-19 time-off request. You can find these where you previously accessed the Business Process Library, now named Solution Templates. Learn more about digital reopening.


Laserfiche Cloud Q4 Update

This release brings new enhancements to the process automation capabilities within Laserfiche Cloud. The new features are:
Automatically apply bulk annotations such as highlights, redactions, strikethroughs, and underlines across documents processed through workflows
Read barcodes off of documents as part of automated workflows to better streamline document capture
Additionally, organizations will be able to purchase Participant User licenses, which provides users with read-only repository access as well as rights to submit forms and participate in business processes.

Weblink Updates Coming Soon!

Security Improvements, bug fixes and end of support for Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge Legacy
Targeted for late August, the upcoming release of WebLink 11 brings a number of bug fixes, performance enhancements and security improvements for self-hosted customers. Along with this update, in line with the rest of the Laserfiche 11 suite, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge Legacy will no longer be supported as previously announced. We encourage all WebLink users to update to the latest version when it’s available to stay current with the latest platform enhancements and security improvements.
Recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Chromium Edge, and, in some cases, Safari will continue to be supported.


Registration for Laserfiche Empower 2022 is Now Open!

Registration for the Laserfiche Empower Conference is now open! The Conference is going to be an entirely virtual event, scheduled for February 7-10, 2022! The online environment will provide all users with engaging content, networking opportunities, discussions and experiences.

What Will Pricing Be Like?
Essential Pass, free: Limited access to two days of the Empower digital experience, including keynotes, select content and networking. This pass also includes access to the EMEA and APAC regional broadcasts.
Power Pass, $149: Unlimited access to the full four-day Empower digital experience, including professional development workshops, technical workshops taught by the Laserfiche development team, on-demand courses and networking events.
Lab Training Pass, $699: These hands-on training sessions with expert Laserfiche trainers are the most popular sessions. Register for classes on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on which sessions fit your needs. Seats are extremely limited. Includes all access provided with the Power Pass.

Domain-locked Licenses Available on the Support Site

Domain-locked primary licenses are an option for organizations that use virtual machines, cloud environments, and automated recovery. Solution Providers no longer need to request domain-locked licenses from Laserfiche. From the Support Site Activation Keys page, the customer or Solution Provider can click on the Submit Domain License link next to the Serial Number to add their domain to a license. An email address and the requested domain of the company in the format domain.com is submitted.  A second domain, *.domain.com will be added automatically. When the request is processed, the email recipient will receive notification that the request has been completed. After reactivating, the changes will be reflected in the license file.

Importing, Exporting, and Sharing Documents
Laserfiche is excited to announce the launch of a new course: Importing, Exporting, and Sharing Documents. This eLearning  course can be accessed in Aspire, at no cost. We recommend this course for those interested in learning more about the Laserfiche repository.
Course Description: In this course, you will learn how to import and export documents as well as how to share documents using the Laserfiche Repository.
Course Objectives:

  • Compare the different ways to import documents to the repository and select the appropriate one for your task
  • Determine the best file format when exporting documents and folders from the repository
  • And, Choose the most efficient method when sharing documents or folders with both internal and external user
