Laserfiche continues to introduce many new features that enhance their Enterprise Content Management platforms with Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). This cutting-edge technology is designed to help users manage and organize vast amounts of data and content. With these transformative capabilities users are better positioned to make informed decisions about how to utilize volumes of unstructured data and content. The following provides a brief description of Laserfiche AI features now available in Laserfiche Cloud.

Smart Fields
Allows you to automatically extract key information from any type of document in seconds. With Smart Fields you can capture the exact information you want simply by writing a short description. You can quickly and easily use the data to populate fields that can then be used to route the document or start a workflow. When designing the individual fields for your template, enter a description and select Automatically Extract Values. Once configured Laserfiche will automatically extract the information from your documents when you choose the appropriate Template and click on Extract Values.

Smart Chat

This feature uses the Laserfiche AI Chatbot to quickly find information and insights within documents stored in the repository. By typing questions in the same manner as you would ask them verbally, you can get answers based on the content of your documents. You can receive relevant answers using information from various sources including the Document Viewer, Folder Browser, and Search Results Page. You can base your questions on up to 100 documents with links to the documents that contributed to the answers. Smart Chat will even keep track of the questions you asked, until you clear the history, allowing for ongoing conversations.

Document Summarization
Use this feature when you want to get a summary of documents in your repository without having to read through them completely, this is especially useful when working with documents that contain dozens or hundreds of pages. Document types supported include imaged documents, PDFs, Office documents, and even audio and video files. Summaries can be viewed in the Summary tab or included when sharing documents via email.

Regular Expression Builder

Using natural language processing, users who are not familiar with regular expression syntax, can generate regular expressions that perform specific functions within Laserfiche such as identifying, displaying, constraining, or extracting information. This process streamlines the creation and troubleshooting of regular expressions, reducing the time required for designing forms and workflows. Regular Expression Builder improves user experience by simplifying the complexities of working with regular expressions, making it more user-friendly and efficient for various Laserfiche applications.
Handwriting Recognition
Not all documents contain printed text. With Handwriting Recognition, handwritten text can be easily extracted in the same manner as typed text. This feature leverages advanced machine learning algorithms to improve the accuracy of capturing handwritten content. Utilized in conjunction with Capture Profiles, it makes it easier to configure and extract important data from a variety of documents by adapting to different handwriting styles and optimizing the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) process. Handwriting Recognition is extremely useful when processing handwritten invoices, automatically extracting essential information such as vendor names and amounts.

Smart Invoice Capture
Using machine learning technology, Smart Invoice Capture is designed to automate the process of extracting data from invoices. This feature automatically extracts data from invoices and inserts them into the appropriate fields in a document template including Invoice date, Invoice number, Purchase order number, Total amount due, Shipping address, Subtotal, Tax amount, and Tax ID. It can also perform a look up to a vendor database table to determine the vendor based on invoice data. The Test Profile provides a confidence percentage that reflects how confident the machine learning algorithm is that the data was captured correctly: Green indicates a high level, Blue indicates a medium level, and Red indicates a low level. These levels can be adjusted to set your own confidence levels. Use the Run Capture Profile activity in Workflow to automatically run the smart invoice capture profile on invoices the workflow will interact with.

Audio Video Transcription
This versatile feature broadens the usability of audio and video content within your Laserfiche repository. When imported into Laserfiche, it automatically transcribes your media files into text making their content searchable. You can then perform a search on the media files, context hits allow you to go to a specific timestamp where the search term is located. The service supports various formats including MP3, MP4, WAV, and more as well as multiple languages. The media must be 2GB or less in size and 4 hours or less in duration to be transcribed.
Please note: These features are currently available for Laserfiche Cloud customers either as a built-in feature or as a purchasable add-on. For Self-Hosted customers, some features have already been released, while others will be released soon.
