Searching in Laserfiche is highly configurable, you have the ability to choose the criteria you want to search by. Searching is also scalable, you can build your search piece by piece, starting with a simple keyword search all the way up to any combination of advanced search options.
There are two types of Searches: Quick and Advanced.
Quick Search provides a built-in search bar allowing you to search Entry names, Annotation Text, Index Fields and the Full Text of a document.
Advanced Search options open in a dialogue box allowing you to choose many different search types and combine search types for more specific searches. Remember to start broad and become more specific as you build your search.
Wildcards may be used to represent unknown characters. Wildcards are special characters that can be used to represent unknown letters or numbers in your search. A common use case is when searching for a name that you are not sure how to spell.
- ? – Represents any single character
- * – Represents zero or more characters
- [ ] – Used to designate specific characters that may be substituted for a single missing character
