Customer Success Story – City of San Luis Obispo
Dedicated to Public Service and Laserfiche Automations
Located on the Central Coast of California about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the City of San Luis Obispo (SLO) is home to more than 47,000 residents.
The City of San Luis Obispo started working with ECS Imaging in 2012 when they ran a competitive bid process to consolidate the City and the Police Department to one Laserfiche Solutions Provider. ECS Imaging was selected as the best choice to merge and support their Laserfiche Systems.

Complimentary Laserfiche Empower 2025 Passes

Intermittent Issue with Laserfiche Weblink
We have received reports of an issue with Laserfiche Weblink in which a “no records found” message appears after clicking on a link. As a temporary fix you may want to adjust the IIS webserver application pool recycling interval to help alleviate the issue. The default of 1 day (1440 minutes) can be changed to 3 hours (180 minutes). This helps flush the app pool more frequently and should result in fewer issues. If the issue continues to occur, you can manually recycle the pool without rebooting the server. ECS and Laserfiche are working on a permanent fix and we will keep you posted. The ECS Support Team is standing by to assist with this issue.

Important Changes to Laserfiche User Licenses
Laserfiche is more closely enforcing user licensing rules with the following two updates:
▪ Preventing expansions of discontinued user licenses, and
▪ Limiting the purchase of Education Users to Laserfiche Rio and Laserfiche Business Tier for Self-Hosted or Cloud.
Please Note, the following User Licenses (SKUs) have been discontinued:
▪ Laserfiche Avante Named Full User (MNF05),
▪ Laserfiche Avante Named Full User with Web Client (MNF16),
▪ Laserfiche Rio Named Retrieval User (ENR),
▪ Laserfiche Avante Forms Authenticated Participants (MAFRM),
▪ Laserfiche Rio Forms Authenticated Participants (EAFRM),
▪ Laserfiche Process Users (JPRC),
▪ Laserfiche Rio Restricted Named User (ERNU)
Customers with legacy license types above should consider moving to a more modern and standard licensing option. Customers may also want to take advantage of upgrade promotions and upgrade the whole system to a new Self-Hosted or Cloud Subscription. These updates will position your organization better for future expansions, upgrades and benefits from features released in new versions of the software.
Additionally, Laserfiche is beginning to require that customers with 1,000s of Users be licensed a system with the tools for managing those users. Laserfiche Avante, Laserfiche Starter and Laserfiche Professional subscriptions are designed for small, departmental solutions. As Laserfiche continues to improve their offering, user management, advanced security and administration features will be tied to the larger packages, such as the Business Tier and Enterprise Identity Management module. Therefore, Laserfiche is restricting new purchases of Education Users with quantities of 2,000 or more for the small packages of Laserfiche Avante, Laserfiche Starter, and Laserfiche Professional for both Self-Hosted and Cloud. Existing customers on Laserfiche Avante, Laserfiche Starter, and Laserfiche Professional Tiers with 2,000 Education Users or more can continue to renew but not add more Ed Users. Only expansions will necessitate an upgrade discussion when you are ready to make user licensing adjustments.

Laserfiche Earns Highest Rating on Gartner Peer Insight Report for 5th Year in a Row
On the 2024 Gartner Peer Insights ‘Voice of the Customer’: Content Services Platforms report, Laserfiche stands out as:
▪ Being the only company with the HIGHEST average overall rating at 4.7 out of 5
▪ Having the HIGHEST percentage of 5-star reviews at almost 70% AND
▪ Having the MOST reviews (by far) at 404 reviews
ACTION REQUIRED – Update SSO Certificate for Laserfiche Cloud
Laserfiche Cloud customers who are using single sign-on (SSO) and have enabled token encryption as part of their SSO configuration will need to download a new certificate and update the token with their IDP BEFORE the end of July 2024. You will also notice an in-app self-service alert about this required update.
The certificate expires every two years, and the current certificate is set to expire on July 31st, 2024. If no action is taken, user access to your Cloud account will be blocked after July 31st. You can also contact the ECS Support Team for assistance with this update.

Laserfiche Cloud Migration Readiness Assessment Tool
The Laserfiche Cloud Migration Readiness Assessment Tool analyzes self-hosted Workflow and Forms resources to produce a comprehensive Assessment Report for use in planning and scoping migration projects to Laserfiche Cloud. During migration projects, the tool saves time and effort by replacing manual Workflow or Forms auditing.
This tool can also be used independent of migration projects to evaluate self-hosted Workflow and Forms usage, which is included in the Assessment Report. The tool uses read-only access and does not modify self-hosted resources in any way. This tool also supports automatic updates to ensure that reports reflect the latest state of self-hosted and Cloud resources.

What’s New in Laserfiche Cloud
Account Administration Bulk Action Enhancements – We’ve made it even easier to manage users in bulk with improvements to account administration settings such as: Enable, Disable, Delete, Add to group, Set user license type, and Require password change, all from one interface.
In addition, enhancements to the user experience now include pop-up dialogs, delivering progress updates and displaying results within the interface seamlessly. Adding users to groups has been enhanced with group search when adding users to a group, and the Assign Rights dialog now supports selecting up to 50 users at a time, streamlining user management, along with new action confirmations that minimize the risk of unintended changes.
Updated Process Automation Starting Event Option – We’ve updated the Process Automation Starting Event options to be clearer and default appropriately. You may have workflows or business processes that change documents in your repository. Starting event options that use a workflow or business process to satisfy starting event conditions on another workflow now defaults to off in order to avoid runaway workflows, and must be manually enabled as needed.
